After a couple of tweaks, we’ve 3D-printed the design of the chassis. The first attempt went well and proved to be strong enough, so we made a few adjustments and now have the “final” design.
Initially, there was not quite enough space for the battery, so had to made it wider. Still well within the allowable size for Pi Wars.
The wheels are to be driven via toothed 6mm GT2 belts from the motors, but because of the weight and power required, the belts need to be quite taut. We found the belt was not tight enough to start with (3D prints are slightly too flexible) and tended to slip, so we added some slots to the screw holes so could tighten it up more.
Overall quite pleased so far 😃
Next, we need to add the wheels and mount the Raspberry Pi onto the side. The plan is to have the Pi on one side, and a “face” on the other including a camera and some neopixel “eyes”.
